Animal Supply Company partners with Postmates to help brick & mortar deliver in minutes
Animal Supply Company announced on January 24, that they had teamed up with logistics company Postmates that provides on-demand delivery services. “This year we’re bringing our retail partners the opportunity to provide convenient, fast, affordable on-demand home delivery and we’re providing a way to deliver products to pet parents in minutes-not days,” the company said in a statement.
The move comes after the company’s retail partners have had a tough time competing with online retailers such as Amazon and Chewy. The partnership with Postmates will ensure couriers deliver products directly from stores to their customers’ front doors “within minutes, not two days or even overnight,” the statement said.
Postmates works to deliver food from local restaurants, makes grocery deliveries through its Postmates Fresh service, delivers products from stores such as Kiehls, 7-Eleven and Trader Joes and offers alcohol delivery in six states. In September 2017, the company offered services in 250 cities in the United States and expanded to its first international market in Mexico City in Noevmber 2017. The company may go public this year.
Animal Supply Company added in its statement that this was just one of the ways that they were supporting the independent pet channel and helping ensure pets are happy, healthy and safe. The solution will be rolled out in a phased market approach.
