Christ the Redeemer Embraced a Pet for the First Time in a Historic Tribute to Responsible Adoption

In a powerful and unprecedented display of compassion, Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Christ the Redeemer monument “embraced” a pet for the very first time through a special projection on World Stray Animal Day (April 4), marking a historic moment in support of responsible pet adoption. The symbolic projection, organized by PremieRpet—Brazil’s pioneer in high-quality, super-premium pet nutrition—and its brand GoldeN, was designed to raise awareness and inspire action around the urgent need to find loving homes for rescued animals.

“At PremieRpet, we believe every dog and cat deserves a loving home and proper care,” said Fernando Maluf, VP of International Sales. “As a national symbol of compassion, Christ the Redeemer provided the perfect setting to share our message of hope and the life-changing impact of adoption—reflecting our company’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.”

In addition to the projection, GoldeN—together with PremieRpet’s US brand, Natoo—donated more than 27 tons of pet food through the PremieRpet Institute, equivalent to roughly 111,280 meals. The donation went to organizations within the Sustainable Christ Consortium, which collectively care for about 600 dogs and cats. The initiative will also feature three adoption events throughout the month of April, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Porto Alegre, promoting opportunities for more animals to find a loving home.
