Global Pet Expo Takeaways: Health and Wellness

Although each pet parent is different in their lifestyle approach, one thing can be agreed on: ensuring that the health and well-being of their pets continues to remain top priority. Leaders within the health and wellness category recognize that pet owners maintain their pets’ well-being through various methods, which in turn allows them to produce and provide several products and options to cater to pets’ individual needs. Global Pet Expo presented the perfect opportunity for these leaders to showcase their latest product offerings while educating attendees on all their company has to offer.

“With the debut of our new, state-of-the-art booth we were able to connect with customers, industry leaders and prospects,” said Kim Dorward, Senior Marketing Communications Manager with PetAg. “This innovative space provided enhanced opportunities for meaningful engagement, allowing us to showcase the full range of PetAg’ s premium products and solutions that set us apart in the pet industry and showcase why PetAg continues to lead the way in supporting healthier, happier lives for pets everywhere!”

“Our goals going into the show were to strengthen relationships with existing retail and distribution partners, generate new business opportunities, and showcase our latest innovations in pet health and wellness,” said Disa Pratt, Chief Sales officer at Vetnique. “In addition to highly productive meetings with our existing customers and brokers, we also saw strong engagement at our booth from new retailers, influencers, and other key opinion leaders. Throughout the show, our team had meaningful conversations that we believe will translate into tangible business growth. The response to our newer product launches, including our hip and joint supplement, YuMOVE, was overwhelmingly positive. Overall, the event was a great success in driving visibility, partnerships, and momentum for Vetnique’s continued expansion.”

Exhibitors prepare months in advance for Global Pet Expo. Pet Naturals and Vetriscience acknowledge the companies’ leadership strategies and initiatives planned to move the category forward

“At Vetriscience and Pet Naturals, we lead with quality, safety and science to set higher standards in pet supplementation,” said a FoodScience spokesperson. Our products undergo third-party testing for purity, comply with all AAFCO and NASC regulations, and are manufactured in cGMP and SQF-certified facilities to ensure safety and consistency in production. We work closely with veterinarians to formulate supplements with ingredients that are backed by clinical research, ensuring confidence and trust. Our solutions address joint and muscle health, digestion, immunity, skin & coat care, and more, offered in a variety of formats—chews, powders, tablets, capsules, and liquids—to suit different pet needs. By focusing on transparency, innovation, and pet-approved palatability, we’re not just meeting industry standards—we’re raising them.”

Looking at the importance of the category was a focal point at the show.

“The significance of the health and wellness category was a dominant theme throughout Global, highlighting its growing impact on the pet industry. At PetAg, our commitment to advancing innovations that enhance the lives of pets remains a top priority. Experiencing firsthand the challenges and emerging needs within this space at Global reinforced the urgency and relevance of our mission. As pet owners increasingly seek ways to improve their pets’ quality of life—mirroring the human health and wellness movement—this category continues to be a driving force in the animal market, shaping the future of pet care and nutrition,” said Dorward.

“Pet health and wellness continues to evolve, and Global Pet Expo highlighted some key trends that closely align with Vetnique’s mission and vision. Of particular note, the growing demand for veterinarian-formulated products, and expectations for science-backed solutions in the pet space, which Vetnique uniquely offers. Growing consumer interest in proactive pet care solutions, preventative care, functional ingredients, and pet parent education were major themes that also resonated throughout the show. We also saw an increase in cat solutions, reflecting the growing demand for cat health and wellness care – which has historically been an underserved segment,” said Pratt.

Attending Global Pet Expo every year has become a staple opportunity many continue to take advantage of.

“Global Pet Expo (Global) is exceptionally well-organized, offering a seamless experience from the intuitive and user-friendly app to the clear, informative signage that makes navigation effortless,” Dorward shared. “The event also boasts a diverse range of educational opportunities, catering to attendees from all sectors of the pet industry. Even as an exhibitor, Global provides immense value beyond showcasing products. Dedicated sessions offer insightful content on industry trends, business strategies and innovations, ensuring that exhibitors gain knowledge as well as exposure. These sessions also serve as a platform for meaningful engagement, allowing exhibitors to connect with peers, potential clients and industry leaders, fostering valuable relationships that extend beyond the event itself.”.

Ventique expressed the impact of Global showrunner’s dedication to the show and how it keeps exhibitors coming back each year.

“I think the APPA and Global Pet Expo does an excellent job of creating a high-energy, dynamic environment that brings together key players across the pet industry and from around the world. The well-organized layout and focus on innovation makes it a fantastic platform for brands to showcase their latest offerings. One area for improvement could be more structured networking opportunities, such as targeted matchmaking sessions or dedicated time slots for retailers, distributors, and brands to connect more efficiently. Given the size of the event, having additional curated networking sessions or roundtable discussions on trending industry topics could enhance collaboration and facilitate deeper business connections,” said Pratt.

“Based on the connections and conversations we had at Global Pet Expo, we anticipate new retail placements, expanded distribution, and increased awareness of our innovative pet wellness products. The feedback we received from both current and potential partners reaffirmed that Vetnique is well-positioned to continue leading in the pet health and wellness space. Our sales and marketing teams are already working on follow-ups with key accounts, capitalizing on new partnership opportunities, and leveraging the insights gained from industry discussions to refine our strategies,” Pratt concluded.
