Global Pet Expo Preview: Dog Treats
People and products are two of the key reasons that keep dog treat manufacturers returning to Global Pet Expo each year. These manufacturers praise the event for offering a hub that promotes efficient and productive one-on-one meetings with retailers and distributors that they may not get to see in person if not for the show. Dog treat companies value the strong attendance and exposure.
“Loving Pets has enjoyed being part of Global since our journey began back in 2005,” said VP of Sales Dan Nagy. “We truly cherish the opportunity to connect with our customers, stay in the loop with the latest industry trends, and proudly share our newest and best products.”
“There are probably two major reasons we attend: people and product,” said Nicole Domcik, Director of Sales for Targeted PetCare. “In terms of people, we find that most of our customers attend this show. It allows us to have efficient, productive meetings with each customer in one convenient location. You just cannot beat that when you are working with customers around the world. When it comes to product, we see a couple of advantages. Global is a great place to promote new products like our new Enzymatic Dental, Chewsday. It allows us to show it off to retailers of all kinds, both current and future customers. Additionally, it is a great place to see the latest innovations coming into the market. We are able to see the best innovations before they even hit shelves!”
“Phelps Pet Products has been a mainstay at Global and SUPERZOO for many years,” said President and CEO Rick Ruffolo. “In fact, 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of Phelps Pet Products by Dick Phelps back in 1966. We are humbled by the commitment of those who came before us, and we are driven to continually expand the impact we can have on improving the lives of pets and families one (dog)house at a time. We are pleased to have been invited to have our booth situated within the Pet Sustainability Coalition section of the show—which is an acknowledgement that the industry is increasingly recognizing the importance of expanding sustainability practices throughout the market. We always enjoy seeing our customers, meeting new prospects, and learning from the many other dedicated professionals throughout the industry.”
“While tradeshows have changed over the years, Global continues to be the place to show innovation, meet new customers, and to see what’s coming in the industry at large,” said Jim Gorrell, VP of Marketing for Vitakraft. “And, believe it or not, there are sales to be made at the show. It has been the only show where we exhibit, and will continue to be our primary event for years to come.”
“These events have consistently provided valuable opportunities to meet, collaborate, and do business with associates, vendors, and both existing and prospective customers,” said ROAM Pet Products CEO Dean Triandafellos. “The show itself is always well organized and well attended, making it an important and reliable platform for our industry.”
In 2026, Targeted PetCare is proud to launch its latest product line: Chewsday.
“We’re experts in canine nutrition and dental health, but first and foremost, we’re devoted dog lovers,” said VP of Marketing Brian Quinn. “Every Chewsday product is thoughtfully crafted with your dog’s well-being in mind—physical, mental, and emotional. And even better, Chewsday has an attainable price point to keep dog parents coming back for more! Crafted using powerful enzymes and betaine, Chewsday’s Dental Chews are veterinarian-recommended, enzyme-powered for advanced cleaning, and specially formulated to sup-port healthy gums. [Our other brand] Country Kitchen is bringing some exciting innovation to Global this year, including product line expansions in our top-selling Rawhide Free Puff Technology treats.”
“We are so excited to be showcasing our innovative new hydration gel dog treat product within our Phelps Wellness Collection,” Ruffolo said. “The new “H2GO!” Hydration Gel was developed to help address the chronic issue of dehydration or under-hydration in dogs. Much like with humans—nearly everything within a dog’s body works more efficiently and effectively when properly hydrated. It is well-known that most dogs often do not get proper hydration even if there is a water bowl readily available. H2GO! is a super convenient way to help bridge the gap to proper hydration. It comes in a Beef Flavor and can be given to your dog as a daily treat, or it can be used prior to, during, and/or immediately following physical activities such as walks, hikes, playtime in the yard or park, etc. It is also well-suited for use with ‘working dogs.’ We will be debuting the product at Global.”
“We know that dog owners buy treats to fill a role—rewarding, training, dental care and daily routine, to name a few,” Gorrell said. “They often keep more than three different treats in their pantry for this reason. There’s really not a ‘one size fits all treat’ in the consumer’s eyes. At Vitakraft, we specialize in high-quality meaty treats with our Meaty Morsels brand on the market and doing pretty well as a high-value reward for dog’s good behavior. However, we realized that there are several treating occasions that we aren’t meeting with this awe-some product, specifically training and a great all-around daily treat. So we’re launching two line extensions to fill the gap—MeatyBits and MeatyStick. Now Vitakraft has the perfect meaty treat for any treating occasion.”
