Animal Supply Company, Phillips Pet Food and Supplies Officially Call off Merger

Though first reported a week ago, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies and Animal Supply Company issued a statement today announcing they have terminated the Agreement and Plan of Merger announced on February 25, 2020.

While Phillips and ASC believe in the merits of a potential transaction, the economic uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have made it difficult to close on many business transactions in the United States, including this merger of Phillips and ASC. Phillips and ASC remain committed to supporting their individual retailer customers and brand partners going forward.

Phillips Pet Food & Supplies business started as a single feed store in 1938 and now has 10 distribution centers strategically located across the United States, proudly serving the pet specialty industry.

Founded in 1987, Animal Supply Company has grown to serve customers out of 18 distribution centers, of which 10 offer e-commerce fulfillment services. The company has more than 7,000 independent retail customers who operate more than 15,000 retail outlets distributing pet food and supplies.
