AL-Based Pet Depot Acquired by PSP Franchisee
Alabama-based Pet Depot has been acquired as of Nov. 2, 2022 by a Pet Supplies Plus franchisee. The acquisition encompasses all 10 Pet Depot locations in the state; however, the corporate office and warehouse are not a part of the purchase and is slated to close in the coming months.
The first Pet Depot store opened in 1994 in Florence, AL. Since then, the company had grown to nine more locations in Muscle Shoals, Athens, Fort Payne, Guntersville, Cullman, Huntsville, Hazel Green and Hartselle.
As recently as 2021, Pet Depot had rolled out its new Grooming Training Center program which encompassed five weeks of instruction and one week of in-salon training.
The company also had been a partner with the University of North Alabama in Florence in providing care for its live lion mascots Leo III and Una. Una passed away in 2020.
