Al Puntillo Appointed Co-CEO of Mud Bay

Mud Bay recently announced the appointment of Al Puntillo to Co-CEO. Previously, Puntillo was Mud Bay’s CMO from March 2015 to July 2022. Puntillo has been part of the pet industry for many years, and joined Mud Bay in 2013 as its VP of Merchandising. In his new role, Puntillo will share co-CEO duties with Marisa Wulff, while Lars Wulff will move to a new role as Executive Chairman of the Board.

Before moving up in the company, Puntillo partnered with Mud Bay on manufacturing and distribution. He was a graduate of WSU’s Animal Sciences Department, and later joined the pet industry as a sales rep for Animal Supply Company.

“Animals and pets have always been a big part of my life,” Puntillo said in an interview with Pet Insight in 2021. “Growing up I was a 4-H kid who spent my summers showing horses and beef cattle and the rest of the year caring for them and all the other pets on my parent’s small hobby farm just outside of Portland Oregon. I received my degree in Animal Science from Washington State University and since then it feels like every position and mentor that I have had was preparing me for the next opportunity.  I have worked as a veterinary technician, distributor sales rep, pet food manufacturing rep, sales manager, and sales director. As Mud Bay’s Chief Merchandising Officer, I can tell you that I draw on those previous experiences and the wisdom of my mentors almost every day.”
