BetterBone Partners with Every Last One Rescue to Support NYC Dogs During Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

New York City-based and award-winning dog chew toy brand will donate products, participate in local rescue outings and help amplify adoptable dogs throughout October

In conjunction with October’s National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, BetterBone®, the plant-based, nylon-free dog chew brand built around a dog-first philosophy, today announced a new partnership with New York City-based Every Last One Rescue.

Every Last One Rescue is a foster-based nonprofit that rescues dogs from Animal Care Centers of NYC, the city’s open-intake shelter system, and places them in foster homes while they await adoption.

The collaboration will combine product donations, hands-on involvement and storytelling to support dogs rescued from New York City’s shelter system and help more adoptable dogs get seen by potential foster and forever families.

Beginning October 1st and continuing through October 31st, BetterBone will support Every Last One Rescue in 3 key ways:

  • Providing Chews & Enrichment: BetterBone will donate award-winning products in a variety of sizes and chew toughness for rescued dogs to enjoy as they decompress, transition into foster homes and adjust to new surroundings.
  • Participating in “Borough Breaks”: Members of the BetterBone team will join ELO’s team of trained volunteers for their Borough Breaks initiative, giving dogs individualized attention, enrichment and time outside of the shelter environment.
  • Helping More Adoptable Dogs Get Seen: BetterBone will use its social platforms and community to introduce adoptable dogs, share their stories and encourage more people to foster, adopt, volunteer or support local rescue efforts.

“BetterBone’s mission has always started with one simple idea: dogs deserve better,” said Chisholm Weaver, CEO and Co-Founder of BetterBone. “That applies to the dogs already sleeping on our couches, but it also applies to the incredible dogs still waiting for someone to bring them home. As a New York City-based company, we wanted to find a meaningful way to show up for dogs right here in our own community.”

“As a New Yorker, it’s incredibly important to me that we show up for the dogs in our own backyard: the dogs sitting in NYC shelters, the dogs who are overlooked and the dogs who simply need someone to say ‘yes’ when no one else does,” said Mandy Laneve Ficara, Founder and President of Every Last One Rescue. “These are our city’s dogs, and they deserve our attention, our resources and our commitment.”

The partnership reflects BetterBone’s broader dog-first philosophy: creating products around dogs’ natural needs while also finding meaningful ways to support the communities in which dogs and their people live.

BetterBone chews use plant-based materials as an alternative to conventional nylon chews and come in multiple sizes and chewing densities for different dogs and chewing styles.

“Every Last One Rescue has built an incredible community around dogs who are too often overlooked,” Weaver added. “If BetterBone can contribute products, time and visibility that help make a dog’s transition a little easier, or help the right person discover the dog they’ve been waiting for, that is a partnership we are very proud to support.”

Helping Every Last One Find Their Person

Throughout Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, BetterBone and Every Last One Rescue will feature dogs currently looking for foster and adoptive homes and highlight the many ways people can help.

Support can include:

  • Adopting
  • Fostering
  • Volunteering
  • Sharing an adoptable dog’s story
  • Donating to support rescue and veterinary care
  • Helping spread awareness of dogs currently waiting in NYC

Because Every Last One Rescue is foster-based, foster families are especially critical to its mission: each available foster home creates the opportunity to help another dog leave the shelter system and begin the path toward adoption.
