Greenhawk Equine acquires Bark & Fitz

Greenhawk Equine officials announced the company has acquired Bark & Fitz, a pet specialty retailer with locations throughout Ontario.

Bark & Fitz leaders quietly shuttered the company and its website reveals the company has new ownership and will debut a new website.

Greenhawk started as a small trailer serving the racing community in Toronto, Ontario during the mid-80s. Today, the company is one of the largest equine suppliers in Canada. Greenhawk was founded by Gordon Russell, and his son Ian, later joined the company. The company has more than 40 locations and its franchise partners employ more than 400 people. In 2012, the company introduced Greenhawk Best Pet & Co., which offered more opportunities for franchisees through horse and pet locations and one-stop shopping pet stores.
