Pet Boarding Leader Pet Paradise Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Pet Paradise, a leader in providing trusted, comprehensive services in the areas of overnight boarding,resort-style day camp, professional grooming and veterinary care, is celebrating its 20th anniversary celebration this month.

Headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, Pet Paradise marks the innovative achievements and community milestones it reached this year, including opening its 50th location, expanding to 11 states, rebranding its nationwide onsite veterinary clinics to NewDay Veterinary Care and launching a mobile app and reTAIL store. The company, which employs nearly 2,000 team members across the country, also offers leadership training and growth opportunities for team members’ career advancement.

Nationally, Pet Paradise is a premier pet care provider offering overnight boarding, resort-style day camp, professional grooming and veterinary care – all under one roof.

“Our teams have worked hard during the last 20 years to get us to where we are today,” said Fernando Acosta-Rua, President and CEO of Pet Paradise. “We have evolved from our first constructed resort in Jacksonville with less than 35 employees to a nationwide network of 52 comprehensive pet care locations and nearly 2,000 team members, including on-site veterinarians and care teams.”

In 2002, Pet Paradise began as the brainchild of Fred Goldsmith, who founded the company after searching for a compassionate way to board his own pet. Leading a group of investors, Goldsmith envisioned creating a pet boarding resort that was warm and welcoming for both pets and their owners.

“I saw a need for a pet care place that treated pets as lovingly as they are at home,” said Goldsmith. “That vision has grown into a reality beyond my expectations, as now Pet Paradise has become a premier pet care provider in the country.”

In recent years, pet adoption in the United States has skyrocketed to more than 23 million, which spurs the need for the pet care industry to grow as dynamically. To meet the demand, Pet Paradise continuously adapts to the increasing needs of its customers by expanding to new locations with the Pet Paradise prototype resort, including its signature bone-shaped pool.

“When The Crane Group invested in 2016, we were able to focus on what we do well,” said Acosta-Rua. “We fortified our pet care concept by managing the construction development of all our new resorts – from scouting locations in high growth markets to permitting to building the locations from the ground up.”

Pet Paradise is on track to manage the construction and development of an average of 10 new resorts per year. Each location requires the focus of the resort development team to maintain the highest quality standards the company’s guests and pet parents expect.

Within the past year the company opened Pet Paradise resorts and NewDay Veterinary Care clinics in Yulee, FL; Odessa, FL; Lake Nona, FL; Richmond, VA; Cedar Park, TX; Stone Oak, TX; and Chesterfield, VA. Next year, the company plans to expand into Tennessee and Alabama with the goal of operating nearly 60 resorts across 13 states.
