Petaluma Partners with Erewhon Market for Brick-and-Mortar Retail Debut
Petaluma, maker of sustainable dog food and treats, is partnering with Erewhon Market to expand its footprint into brick-and-mortar retail for the first time. Since its direct-to-consumer debut in 2021, Petaluma has grown a loyal subscriber base, 15 percent of which is made up of customers located in Southern California.
“We set out to provide our dogs with high-quality nutrition that didn’t sacrifice our values around environmental and animal welfare. What better retailer to help us fulfill our goal. What better retailer to help us fulfill our goal than Erewhon Market, which has built its reputation on trust and exceptional standards,” said Garrett Wymore, CEO and co-Founder of Petaluma. “We are thrilled to take our first step into brick and mortar with Erewhon Market, which shares our vision for a more sustainable and compassionate food system.”
The brand’s Roasted Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato formula is gently baked in a solar-powered facility and provides all the nutrients that dogs need to thrive with a dramatically smaller pawprint. Crafted by veterinary scientists to meet AAFCO guidelines for adult dogs, the recipe replaces resource-intensive ingredients with plant-based and organic alternatives that require far less land, water and greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, Petaluma offers a single-ingredient Sweet Potato Jerky that serves as a plant-based alternative to chicken jerky packed with vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber for optimal digestion.
As part of the company’s commitment to protecting the environment, Petaluma will continue to package its food in bags that reduce resource intensity by limiting plastic and prioritizing recyclable and compostable materials.
Petaluma is rolling out across all eight of Erewhon Market’s locations across Los Angeles County. The specialty grocery store will carry the brand’s food in a five-pound bag and the dehydrated chews.
