Petco partners with JustFoodForDogs
On May 15, Petco announced it had partnered with Los Alamitos-based JustFoodForDogs to offer fresh, small-batch, human-grade food for dogs in select national locations. The company said in a statement that the move was a result of listening to pet parents who wanted alternative options for their pets.
“JustFoodForDogs has proven itself to be a leader in the industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally offer pet parents such an exceptionally high-quality, truly unique, nutritionally-balanced feeding option for pets,” said Petco evp and chief merchant Rebecca Frechette. “We’re thrilled to partner with JustFoodForDogs who share our belief and unwavering commitment to quality and the love of pets.”
JustFoodForDogs was started by entrepreneur Shawn Buckley in 2010 to provide a healthy, alternative diet to commercial food. With the help of knowledgeable veterinarians, he created a product and opened multiple locations in southern California where food is made fresh in an open kitchen in full view of customers. “We are delighted to partner with Petco, the most prominent retailer of pet products and services in the world,” Buckley said.
Certain Petco locations will give their customers the JustFoodForDogs experience in full exhibition kitchens, or stores within stores that will be supplied with fresh product daily and staffed by JustFoodForDog personnel.
