Smalls Welcomes Industry Veteran Nate Kredich to World-Class Leadership Team and Leads Retail Expansion for Nation’s First Cat-Only Fresh Food Brand
Smalls, the first-to-market, cat-only fresh pet food brand, has added industry veteran Nate Kredich as Chief Operating Officer on Smalls’ world-class leadership team. Joining Smalls’ experienced sales team, Kredich will oversee the company’s retail expansion to meet growing demand, serving cat-parents across the country.
Kredich brings more than 20 years of experience in operations, retail and pet care. Most recently, he served as President of Himalayan Pet Supply, a division of Primal Pet Group and the market leader in the natural long-lasting chew category. While at Himalayan, Kredich led the growth and expansion across multiple sales channels through a focus on product innovation, quality and customer experience. Prior to that, Kredich served as Chief Operating Officer of The Honest Kitchen, where he helped scale and grow that business to become the market’s leading human-grade dog food brand.
“With Nate joining our team, Smalls is doubling down on our mission to create a healthier, happier future for cats — and now we can realize that vision more widely at retail,” said Matt Michaelson, CEO and Co-Founder of Smalls. “Nate’s track record in scaling businesses and building best-in-class teams makes him the ideal leader to guide Smalls into its next chapter, ensuring we scale thoughtfully and bring the same quality, care and cat-first ethos into retail.”
Founded in 2017, Smalls continues to lead a cultural and nutritional shift in the pet food industry by creating high-protein, human-grade and biologically appropriate food exclusively for cats.
To better serve cat-parents how and where they want to buy, Smalls is expanding from a direct-to-consumer delivery offering to placement at key retailers that share their unwavering commitment to the quality cat-parents demand. Adding a proven leader like Kredich underscores Smalls’ commitment to elevating the standard for feline nutrition while making it more accessible to cat parents everywhere.
“I’ve long admired the way Smalls has redefined what it means to nourish cats — and the culture around cats themselves,” said Nate Kredich, Chief Operating Officer of Smalls. “I’m thrilled to join the leadership team, build new partnerships and bring Smalls’ cat-centric nutrition to even more homes.”
Smalls made its retail debut in late 2024 and has quickly established a strong national footprint, now available in more than 500 pet retail stores across the US and growing, offering thousands of customers Smalls’ diets, conveniently at their favorite local pet store. Smalls is setting the standard for this category and will be investing heavily in independent pet in 2026 and beyond.
