The NAVC Welcomes Sally Haddock, DVM as 2025-2026 Board President
Sally Haddock, DVM, assumed the position of NAVC Board President for 2025 – 2026 on Jan. 28, 2025. After serving on the NAVC Board of Directors for eight years, Dr. Haddock took the reins from Karen Kline, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology), CVA at the NAVC’s annual business meeting held in conjunction with its largest event of the year, the Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX).
Dr. Haddock founded and owned St. Marks Veterinary Hospital in Manhattan’s vibrant East Village where she provided high quality and compassionate care to New York City pets for 35 years until her semi-retirement in 2021. Dr. Haddock continues to practice part time at Arlington Animal Hospital in Vermont. She has a special interest in avian and exotic pets as well as dogs and cats. An Ohio native, Dr. Haddock received her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Miami University (Ohio) in 1976 and in 1980, her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University. She then completed an internship and residency at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in NYC.
“I am deeply privileged and honored to serve as NAVC Board president. Being a veterinarian is not just a profession but a vital part of my identity that brings me immense joy and fulfillment,” Haddock said during the NAVC’s annual “pass the gavel” ceremony. “I am so proud to be part of an organization that drives meaningful change in the Veterinary profession worldwide. I am looking forward to contributing what I can to our beloved vibrant and growing organization.”
While raising a family and managing a thriving veterinary practice, Dr. Haddock supported the veterinary community and her local community, actively working on behalf of many veterinary and community non-profit organizations. She is the recent recipient of the Distinguished Life Service award from the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City for her years of support. Dr. Haddock chaired the Annual Awards Banquet of the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City for more than 15 years and served several years as Program Chair for the Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference. She has always been equally active in her local community, where her hospital worked with NY SAVE, providing emergency care to pet owners with financial need and Paws NY, helping to provide veterinary services to people who are homebound and needed help caring for their pets. Dr. Haddock is the author of the book, “The Making of a Woman Vet.”
