Veritas Veterinary Partners Expands California Footprint with Two New State-of-the-Art Facilities

Veritas Veterinary Partners (“Veritas”), one of the fastest-growing specialty and emergency veterinary services organizations in the world, today announced its expansion in California with the opening of two new cutting-edge facilities: a dedicated surgery center operated by Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Orange County (“VSSOC”) in Tustin and an emergency and specialty care facility operated by Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin (“PESCM”) in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.

“We are thrilled to continue our rapid expansion across California by adding these two innovative facilities to our network,” said Kenneth Gardner-Smith, CEO of Veritas. “Veritas is dedicated to delivering best-in-class specialty and emergency veterinary services, and to achieve this, we’re investing in the most advanced technologies and facilities to address the expanding needs of pets, pet parents and the veterinary community broadly. With these new centers, we look forward to serving a growing cohort of pets and pet parents across Orange and Marin Counties.”

Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Orange County

Since 1990, VSSOC has been a trusted leader in advanced surgical care for pets, providing advanced surgical procedures, including cardiothoracic, oncologic, minimally invasive, neurologic, orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as PennHIP screening and diagnostic imaging.

The new, best-in-class Surgery Center, located at 2937 Edinger Avenue in Tustin, opened on Feb. 6, 2025. The center offers a modern, 10,000-square-foot facility designed to elevate the standard of veterinary surgical care and enhance VSSOC’s ability to collaborate with other specialists within the Advanced Veterinary Specialty Group. Key features of the new location include advanced diagnostics with a 128-slice CT scan machine, five surgical suites, 10 pre and postoperative treatment bays, 20 oversized canine recovery suites, as well as vast onsite amenities including inpatient and outpatient radiology suites, an onsite laboratory and a pharmacy.

Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin

Founded in 1998, PESCM is the San Francisco Bay’s premier emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. The new 28,160-square-foot facility, located at 1 Thorndale Drive in San Rafael, conveniently located within the epicenter of Marin County and a short drive from San Francisco, opened on Feb. 10, 2025 and will more than double the size of PESCM’s previous location. The current location at 901 Francisco Blvd. E in San Rafael will remain open to provide another convenient location for urgent care services.

The facility is equipped to handle complex veterinary cases and enables a greater range of specialized care services including emergency, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, neurology, cardiology, diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology. Prominent features of the center include 15 exam rooms, a 24/7 emergency room, a state-of-the-art intensive care suite, four customized operating rooms, a chemotherapy treatment suite, a dedicated endoscopy suite, a community blood bank, space for group grief support sessions and all new imaging modalities including an MRI, CT machine and two X-rays. The hospital is also outfitted to handle the unique needs of its patients with two dedicated feline wards, a canine ward with natural light and isolation rooms for infectious patients.
