SUPERZOO Preview: POS Systems

From streamlining operations and maximizing margins to building customer loyalty, POS systems help pet businesses operate more efficiently and deliver better customer experiences.

A variety of POS companies will be exhibiting at SUPERZOO, including Big Hairy Dog POS Systems, which has provided precision inventory control for pet and feed stores, along with specialty retailers worldwide, for more than three decades. Retail Management Hero designs point-of-sale software for single- and multi-store specialty retailers, including global pet supply shops. Also exhibiting is eTailPet, a POS solution designed for independent and locally owned pet stores.

SUPERZOO has become one of the most important events of the year for Franpos. Subodh Gupta, Founder and CEO, reported, “It brings together retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and technology providers from across the pet industry, creating an incredible opportunity to collaborate and share ideas. We continue to return because no other event offers the same opportunity to connect with our customers, introduce new innovations, receive valuable feedback, and strengthen relationships throughout the industry. Many of the ideas that shape our product roadmap begin with conversations we have at SUPERZOO.”

Celerant Technology will also be exhibiting at the show. The company will demonstrate how independent pet retailers can use its all-in-one retail management software. Features for pet shops include mobile POS systems for on-the-go sales, integrated loyalty programs, and automated eCommerce strategies to grow online.

Franpos is showcasing several innovations at SUPERZOO designed specifically for the pet industry. Gupta described, “One of our biggest introductions is Conversational Business Intelligence, which allows retailers to ask questions in plain English—such as ‘What were my top-selling treats last month?’ or ‘Which locations had the highest grooming revenue?’—and receive immediate answers without building reports.”

He continued, “We’re also introducing powerful new capabilities for Mobile Grooming, including intelligent route optimization that helps businesses schedule appointments more efficiently, reduce drive time, and maximize the number of pets serviced each day. For multi-location retailers and franchise organizations, we’re unveiling new Warehouse Management features that simplify inventory distribution, order fulfillment, and purchasing across stores. These tools help retailers maintain better inventory accuracy while reducing operational complexity.”

Celerant Technology unveiled a customer engagement suite this January that SUPERZOO attendees may want to inquire about. Michele Salerno, CGO of Celerant Technology, detailed, “Our Customer Engagement Suite serves as the central command center for a retailer’s entire marketing strategy. Every campaign, message, and automation is powered by the same data that runs the business—in-store and online. That’s how retailers gain clarity, control, and measurable impact from marketing.”

POS systems have evolved from simple checkout registers to all-in-one business operating hubs. At SUPERZOO, attendees can expect to see POS platforms with more AI-driven features, including inventory forecasting and retention marketing, along with omnichannel options with multi-store scaling.

Gupta of Franpos confirmed, “The point-of-sale industry has evolved far beyond processing transactions. Today’s pet retailers are looking for connected platforms that bring together retail, grooming, boarding, eCommerce, inventory management, marketing, payroll, and customer engagement into one seamless experience.”

He added, “One of the biggest trends we’re seeing is the demand for actionable business intelligence. Retailers don’t just want reports—they want immediate answers that help them make better decisions. They’re also looking for ways to automate routine tasks so their teams can spend more time serving customers and caring for pets. Another major trend is mobility. Whether it’s mobile grooming, curbside pickup, or managing the business remotely, retailers expect the same flexibility from their software that consumers expect from their shopping experience.”

As the largest point-of-sale provider dedicated to the pet industry, Franpos is excited for the conversations SUPERZOO makes possible. Gupta shared, “We want attendees to leave our booth feeling inspired by what’s possible when technology is built specifically for the pet industry. Rather than showcasing individual features, we want retailers to experience how a connected platform can simplify daily operations, improve efficiency, and help grow their business. We also hope visitors walk away knowing that Franpos is committed to the long-term success of independent pet retailers.”

Salerno of Celerant Technology recently stated, “Retailers today are looking for smarter ways to simplify operations, engage customers, and grow across every channel. This year, we introduced some of the most exciting innovations in our company’s history while continuing to strengthen the partnerships and integrations that help retailers operate more efficiently.”

And while POS companies will be actively demonstrating their latest technology, Gupta of Franpos says SUPERZOO is also a chance to hear directly from the retailers they serve. “While we’re excited to demonstrate our latest innovations, one of our biggest priorities is listening. Every conversation provides valuable insight into where the industry is heading and helps us continue building products that solve real challenges for pet retailers.”
